President’s letter 8/31/09
I am writing this letter to inform everyone of my intention to resign as the HPMA President. While serving as the President
for almost two years now there have been many ups and downs. I have enjoyed working with many friends and have made new friends
along the way, for that I will always be grateful. The HPMA family is full of honest and hard working people and it is their
dedication to the sport that makes the HPMA what it is today.
The main reason for my resignation
is not only personal but also family related. As most of you know my wife helped run the Trackside scoring system this year
and my two daughters helped issue transponders to day passers along with running and posting races results for the racers
to see. My son and I both raced two classes this year and along with everything else that takes place during the race day
it was non-stop action, not to mention very stressful. I would like to add to this letter a huge THANK YOU to my wife and
daughters for dedicating their time and doing what they did for the HPMA this year. The other factor is that the time spent
with my son was not quality time this year. He is a young man and growing up way to fast. I need to spend more time with him
while dad is “cool” to hang around with. I feel guilty about putting the HPMA race day first and my son and the
rest of my family second. As I get older I realize that at the end of the day all we have left is family and it is time I
put them first.
I would like to send out a personal THANKS to Tammy Niehoff for her hard work and dedication to this organization.
Tammy puts in countless hours behind the scenes to make sure the scoring is accurate and that it gets posted to the web. Tammy
has been a huge part of this organization for a number of years and she will truly be missed.
The
one thing that I would like to have happen in the years to come is for the organization to keep using the new Trackside software
along with the transponders. This system makes scoring and updating points on the web a lot less time consuming for the individuals
doing it. The riders also like to see their lap times as compared to other riders in their class or compare their lap times
to the pro’s as a measure of what it might take to get to that level, it is a great motivator for a lot of people to
simply improve.
In closing I want to wish the HPMA Board members and all the racers the very best in the years to come. I am still
going to race the HPMA circuit in the years to come and will gladly help, offer ideas or simply answer questions anyone may
have.
Sincerely,
HPMA President
