HPMA Transponder Information

On behalf of the HPMA Board I would like to introduce you to the new Trackside scoring system and the Transponder requirements for the 2009 HPMA race season. As we all know this is the most difficult and time consuming part of the race day. With this new software everyone’s race filled day will become easier. This new system will score races immediatley and update the mark up points at the end of every day.

The HPMA Board will be buying the new version of electronic trackside system along with 35 transponders. These 35 new transponders will be rented out to day passers that come to our races at a fee of $10.00 each and then returned at the end of the day. Along with the $10.00 the racer must provide his/hers or a parents drivers license. This will allow us to track and get back the transponders at the end of the race day.

For the riders that are joining the HPMA race circuit as members you will be required to buy your own personal transponder. Keep in mind that if there are two racers in your family you can still only buy one transponder. During sign ups if there are two racers using the same transponder you will just have to give us the transponder number along with the racers name and class, the electronic scoring system will do the rest. Also, if you race two or more classes you only have to buy one transponder, you would just have to order an extra clip that mounts to each bike so that you can remove the transponder from one machine and clip it into place on the other machine. Please allow yourselves time to take a transponder from one machine to the other. You will run into issues if your classes are back- to- back buy buying just one transponder.

The transponders will only be mandatory for the racers that race the big track. At this time all peewee track racers will not be required to have transponders. We are going to take baby steps with this system and try to minimize mistakes.

Promoters

You will now only have to buy one loop for the finish line on the big track. Since the HPMA will be receiving an extra loop in our package we should always have a spare in case something goes bad. Also, at the gate as the riders are picking their gates it will be the starters responsibility to ask every rider if they have their transponder. If they do not unfortunately they will not get scored.

The transponders will cost $150.00 each; they come with a car charger, a 110-wall charger and the mounting clip, along with a three-year warranty. If you are a racer that races two or more classes you can buy an extra mounting clip for $5.00 each to mount on your second machine.

Racers

The HPMA will not be accepting money or ordering your transponders, you will log onto john@tracksidesoftware.com and order your transponder. After talking with John it looks as if the transponders can be ordered through the above web site at the end of February. John will be receiving about 1,500 transponders by mid March. He will then send you your transponder. John has also committed to the HPMA his time and services at the April 26th race in Douglas to help answer any questions and make sure that the system is working correctly.

If any one has questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at (307) 680-3155 or e-mail me at
tgarska@minepro.com  You can also contact John for questions at 1(724) 228-7998.

Letter from the Board

The HPMA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Missy Norton, former HPMA Treasurer, has made restitution for funds missing from the HPMA bank account.

It was the Boards decision that since these funds are now available, we would try and improve the HPMA circuit by purchasing a new version of the Trackside scoring system along with some transponders. This will reduce the amount of time spent scoring races and doing Mark up points, this system will do it all at the end of every race.

More detailed information will follow regarding the transponders.
